Why employ the services of an interior designer?

There are many reasons to work with an interior designer, not least of all to save you time and stress. As a trained professional Emily can bring the benefit of her experience to your project and help you avoid pitfalls and potentially save money.

Here is a link to my recent blog on this topic for a more in depth answer Why work with an interior designer on your renovation project?

How much will it cost me?

As each client & project is unique, the level of service can vary greatly, therefore once we have had an opportunity to discuss your project in detail, we will put together a proposal for our design fees that has been tailored to your specific requirements.

We are also able to help you establish & fine tune your budget for your whole project.

Please note that we also offer a ‘Consulting Service’ which is bought in blocks of time, so you can set time limits, pause & re-start as required. Services

I dont know where to start with my renovation project - how can you help me?

Absolutely, we are happy to help you get your project kick-started whether you are just looking for ideas & inspiration, or help to bring your own ideas to life. We can be as involved as much, or as little as you would like and are always happy to share our expertise & advice. The key questions we always pose to our prospective clients are – what are your goals, priorities, budget & timeline?

Can you help me find a builder/ contractor?

Hiring an experienced, knowledgeable, open-minded and passionate team to make your designs come to life is so important. We are able to find & vett suitable contractors on your behalf, as well as coordinate and oversee a tender process to help you make the final selection, however the contract would ultimately be between yourselves and the contractor.

Alternatively, we are happy to work with any contractor you prefer to execute the project, so long as they are communicative and willing to collaborate!

We develop drawings and elevations that are explicitly detailed so that we can communicate our expectations and requirements to anyone on your jobsite.

I just need a bit of guidance to get my interior design project going - can you help?

Absolutely, we can be as involved in your project as you like and have specifically created our ‘Consulting Service’ to help clients who just want a moderate level of support whether it be help in choosing paint colours, acting as a sounding board for ideas. This service is offered in blocks of time that are charged in advance.

What does FF&E mean?

FF&E literally means ‘Furniture, Fittings & Equipment’ but essentially it refers to everything that you would purchase for your renovation project from tiles, door handles, or an oven, to fabrics, furniture & accessories. We love helping our clients find ‘just the right thing’ for their homes and with our network of contacts, specialist suppliers and artisans we are easily able to navigate the choices available on your behalf and to provide you with a curated selection of options based on your brief. The advantage of working with us is that not only are we able to save you time in searching for the right thing, but we can also deal with all the logistics around ordering these items including delivery, storage, checking items & where necessary returning them.

What are next steps in hiring you for my interior design project?

Firstly, we will set up an intial ‘Discovery Call’ with you by phone or on Zoom to discuss core specifics of your design project and tell you a bit about us & answer any questions you might have. We will follow up to send you some information and schedule meet face to face for an in-depth ‘Consultation Meeting’.

These meetings are typically 1.5-2hrs in length and are very relaxed. It allows us the chance to get to know you better & your expectations, your style of communication and your pain points about the space(s) you want help re-designing.  Please note that we charge for our time during this meeting.

After the Consultation meeting, we will prepare an in- depth scope of works & design fee proposal, which we will send to you along along with a copy of our contract for review.  Assuming you want to proceed with instructing us, you will need to sign the agreement and pay a retainer (% of overall design fee for the project) to secure your place on our job calendar.

Are you able to offer me a discount on purchasing items?

For the most part our time & expertise in sourcing & specifying items such as fabrics, wallpaper, furniture etc for you is covered by our service fee, therefore we like to share our trade discounts with our clients, where appliable. However please note that a minimum spend is applicable. Please do contact us for a more detailed breakdown of how this works in practice.

When will you be able to start working on my project?

It is hard to say how quickly we would be able to book your design & renovation project in for studio time, as it will depend on how busy we are, the time of year and complexity of the job. However, once we are able to discuss your project with you, we will be able to give you an indication the potential timeframes.

Please note that often the planning & design element of a project needs to be carried out well in advance of instructing contractors and the building work actually starting.
