EDWARDIAN FAMILY APARTMENT, PUTNEY
Our clients wanted to completely refurbish their newly purchased property as it had been largely untouched since the 1960s and was in need of a complete overhaul of electrics and plumbing, as well as a re-think of the use of the rooms to be more suitable for modern family life.
BRIEF /
It was agreed that the kitchen, living room and home office would be positioned in the south-facing rooms to make the most of the light, (especially as they would be spending a lot of time in these rooms) and that the majority bedrooms would be positioned on the north side of the property including the nursery, as it was more conducive to sleep. We also decided to knock through the wall between the kitchen and living room to create bright and airy open-plan area for family life.

PROCESS /
As part of the process of agreeing the layout and decorative scheme for this project, we spent a lot of time getting to know our clients, working through different scenarios of how they envisaged using the property and how they wanted to feel in each space. It was important that the overall decor was elegant and calm, but also relaxed enough to accomodate family life. In each room there are lots of little details that were tailored specifically with the clients in mind.
Emily was our right hand man throughout the build and a perfect addition to our builder. She offered a practical as well as aesthetic eye covering big items like completely reimagining the space, moving the kitchen to our South facing light rooms, to sourcing all the beautiful items that set apart our kitchen and bathrooms, namely tiles, backsplash, countertops, the most stunning blinds and wallpaper, as well as the furniture and accessories that would make our house a home. She was excellent at mediating when us novices had differing views or taste, and always kept our overall brief and budget in mind.
